Janamat Party
This political party was established on 4 Chaitra 2075 (18 March 2019). Founded approximately three and a half years ago, the party is chaired by Chandrakant (C.K.) Raut.
Raut, who had previously led a separatist movement advocating for the creation of an independent Madhesh state separate from Nepal, entered mainstream politics following an 11-point agreement signed with the then government led by Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on 24 Falgun 2075 (8 March 2019).
Since then, the party has been actively engaged in political activities under the banner of the Janamat Party. Established with the objective of securing rights for Madhesh, the party’s primary support base remains within the Madhesh region.
In the local level elections held in Baisakh 2079 (May 2022), the Janamat Party secured victories in two local units in Saptari district, the home district of party chair Raut.
The party’s election symbol is the microphone.
