Description
Rabi Lamichhane, the President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has announced his candidacy once again from the Chitwan constituency 2 in the upcoming by-election. He previously won the November 20, 2022 election from the constituency by defeating Umesh Shrestha of the Nepali Congress, with a margin of 34,170 votes. He had secured 49,264 votes. Lamichhane was sacked from his position as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs after the Supreme Court annulled his status as a lawmaker citing that the citizenship certificate he produced to contest the parliamentary election was invalid. Jit Narayan Shrestha of the Nepali Congress, Ram Prasad Neupane of the CPN-UML, Rajesh Adhikari of the Nagrik Unmukti Party and Jiblal Puri of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party are also in the fray for the House of Representative seat.
